Day 9 ….

So yesterday (Thursday) was day 9, and Morgan is doing really well.  She ventured further into the back yard than she has before, and seemed rather proud of herself!

She is also getting much better at sitting, which seemed difficult for her at first.

All was going well last night, until about 9:30… her incision started leaking fluid.  We had that happen the first 2 days after surgery, but not since then.  I have no idea why it would have started draining all of the sudden, she was just laying down relaxing when it started.  I don’t know if possibly too much activity earlier in the evening could have caused it???  I am slightly disturbed by this since she is scheduled to have her stitches taken out on Saturday morning.  Everything seems to be ok this morning, the leaking has stopped.  I put some antibiotic on it this morning, and she seems to be feeling fine.  I just hope there is nothing wrong !!!!!

A little stressed today 🙁

Fortis had what sounds like a similar occurrence to Morgan. I’m no vet but the fact that it is draining is probably a good thing. With fortis at about day 15 and just prior to having his stitches removed stared acting like he didn’t feel well. Fortis was running a fever and I immediately made a vet appointment. I was really worried. The incision suddenly started leaking fluid as well as a few large pinkish tissue masses. Fortis immediately started feeling better. He had an infection due to some internal sutures tearing while horsing around. Once the leg started draining and antibiotics were given he was as good as new in no time. I would keep an eye on his temperature and of course the appointment with your vet. Sending lot of positive thoughts your way. Fortis’ stitches remained in for over 3 weeks. If you want to read more about what happened with Fortis here is a link to my blog where I discussed it. Just scroll down to 2/18 – 2/21.

I’m so sorry Morgan, we just saw this now. It sounds like a seroma, which is nothing to worry about. It’s just leftover fluid from your leg that was running around your body. It had to go somewhere. Many Tripawds get it, myself included. It’s nothing that can’t be fixed in the office, good thing you’re going tomorrow.

We hope that’s all it is. Let us know OK?
